ReSound Corp. Announces Cancellation of ReSound Digital 2000 Product Launch; ReSound Digital 2000 Available Only in Europe Business Wire - March 31, 1998 08:24 REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--March 31, 1998--ReSound Corp. (NASDAQ/NMS:RSND) today announced that it will not launch its ReSound Digital 2000 product line in the North American and Asia Pacific and Latin American markets as previously announced in October of 1997. The ReSound Digital 2000 is based on DSP circuit technology developed by Philips Hearing Instruments, a business unit of Philips Electronics. The product line will continue to be available to customers in Europe where it was introduced in the fourth quarter of 1997. "We continue to make solid progress in the development of our software-based DSP product line, which we believe will provide many new and exciting benefits to both end-users and hearing health care professionals," said ReSound President and CEO Russell Hays. "We are directing our resources toward the timely development and production ramp-up of this product line to facilitate its successful launch into the market. "We anticipate that the fully software-based DSP platform has the potential to dramatically improve many functions and features that currently available 'closed' DSP devices provide. These functions and features include advanced algorithms for multiband compression, automatic feedback suppression, noise cancellation, directional amplification and other speech enhancements." ReSound is a hearing health care company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets technologically advanced hearing devices throughout the world. These statements are identified by the use of words such as "anticipate" and "believe." These risks and uncertainties include the technological risks and uncertainties inherent in the development process, which could cause termination of the development effort, delay the product's introduction, or significantly decrease the product's originally anticipated level of customer acceptance. Also, it cannot be assumed in any event that a new product will attain the anticipated level of customer acceptance anticipated, or that competitors will not introduce their own new products that will be better received in the marketplace than the company's new product.
