Maxwell, Intc is not fighting AMD Intel is fighting market growth. Intel efforts worked well when the market for CPU was expanding. The market is now expanding less. How about that a complete reversal of all gains in AMD within one week of the technical effort to lift the stock. Too bad the effort wasn't coordinated with some real fundementals. An agreement is a piece of paper written between two liars IBM-AMD, both masking problems. I maintain an investment in AMD is premature. It's not too hard to learn to sell AMd anytime it goes up 5 points in two days. Have fun shopping in the tech wreck. Lots of bargains amd is not one of them, with not less then five material strikes against them. All they managed to do this time is to piss off the fresh money lured into the fracus. IBM to buy AMD Give me a break!
Right now both companies can't find their ass with both hands!

Maxwell
re: They must improve their yield to 125%! That extra 25% on yield above 100% is PURE PROFIT.

:-)) that is a good one. Now, after expectations are lowered by $.30 amd may have a chance to beat the expectations by a cent or two <ggg>
I wonder how many times intel is going to use this trick to beat expectations....

Maxwell, heres how Intel will get yields to 125% to beat AMD mfg cost.

For INTC to regain their glory day there is only ONE SOLUTION. They must improve their yield to 125%! That extra 25% on yield above 100% is PURE PROFIT.

It has been widely reported that Intel has added two instructions to their Deschutes (0.25 micron Pentium II). These instructions implement complex arithmetic in hardware. By utilizing imaginary time, Intel can produce 1.414 x more processors, getting their total yield to a whopping 125%, and generating 41% imaginary profits to add to their real profits.

Furthermore, they will use this imaginary money to pay their dividend and buy back shares backing their put warrants! I hear they may also be producing VEGETABLES in addition to microprocessors!
