Tom, as far as I know, each trade of up to 5000 shares is $9.99. If you want to buy 10000 shares, you have to enter two 5000 share orders and you'll be charged $9.99 per trade. With E*Trade you are charged $0.01 per share over 5000, but I believe that's only if your order was for 10000 shares - I think if you enter two orders of 5000, you'll just be charged the flat commission for each order.
