The Sun/Ancor talk recently is true. Despite the belief that Brocade
would get the Sun business because of ties with Sun,
this has not happened. Sun has chosen ANcor for one simple reason. They
have the switch now. Sun does not want to sit and wait
for Brocade and risk falling behind their competitors in the the area of
FC storage. Despite talk from Brocade, they still do
not have a working FC_AL switch. The announcement won't be coming
anytime soon according to my sources but have no fear, ANCR
has been chosen and will be the ONLY vendor they go with it as has been
their past practices regarding OEM's. Also, regarding
Sequent , they will not be doing any business with ANCR anytime soon.
Despite what many people think after listening to the latest
conference call, they are pleased with Brocade and have no plans of
doing business with anyone else at the time. These thoughts come
from UNH. I'll post more in the future.
