yowsa,

I had to go deal with a lake of water in my garage about an hour ago at which time the bid was at 6 7/8. On Tuesday I decided to go enjoy the sun over in Marin and turned the screen off when the bid was around 6 5/8. I think Craig's "out of the office" routine may have some serious merit. Anyone want to give me a plane ticket to Hawaii? I promise not to even open the business section of the newspaper. <g>

Fang Li,

<<But this thread failed to get any inside information this time.>>

I'm not convinced that inside information is necessary to make a good investment decision. IF (big if) Ancor has really signed an OEM, or is very close to signing one, it wouldn't surprise me in the least. In fact, this is exactly the type of event many of us expected. We didn't know exactly when, or who, but by figuring out that this was likely to happen based on Fibre Channel market dynamics, Ancor's MKII technology and improved management, many of us took positions in ANCR at substantially lower levels.

That's the reason why I got so upset with the people that kept saying that we were "going to zero". At some point, ANCR clearly became undervalued, just as it was overvalued when it ran to 41. I would have liked to have a civilized discussion about what a realistic value of ANCR was in late 1997, but that was virtually impossible. Even now, I would like to have a civilized discussion about what the potential valuation of Ancor could be, but if I did that, I would be branded a hypester. So, I pretty much keep my valuations to myself.

One of my original goals for this thread was to create an atmosphere that encouraged the civil exchange of information, both good and bad. Naturally, most people here are investors in Ancor, and want the company to succeed. That fact slants the overall tenor of the thread in a bullish direction, and causes a certain angst among those who disagree. Because of the deterioriating conditions here on the ANCR thread late last year and early in 1998, many of us decided that it wasn't worth putting as much time into distributing the results of our research. It isn't that we were doing less research, but we certainly weren't talking about it as much. <g>

I don't think that the long time Ancor bulls have been totally vindicated yet, but if Ancor signs a good sized deal at some point, we won't look quite so much like the buffoons some have made us out to be. <g>

As far as the Yahoo post, I don't give it a lot of credence, even though it could be accurate, simply because it is yet another anonymous post. Anybody can say anything in anonymity. It takes a lot more character to say things with your name attached.
