How long have these been out? It is too late to act after the damage has been done. The minute NT 4.0 was released, he shoudl have cut prices dramatically, and immediately. The couple of extra dollars he earned in margin is easily destroyed in market share and oppurtunity cost. He should also stop trying to please short sighted investors (like the ORCL guys) and manage his company for the long term. The biggest advantage MSFT has is price and productivity. To compete, you have to provide those or your customers will float to those that do.
