Boy, I wish I had $9.95 for every time that question has been asked! (When will Datek allow options trading...)

Has anyone considered that the question might not be "when will Datek allow options trading", but "when will the options exchanges allow Datek to do options trading"?

Besides the normal processing of getting options exchange memberships, I suspect that there may be additional hurdles for a firm that only offers electronic trading.

There are going to be some sticky issues as to how Datek will be able to handle various trading strategies that can't be easily dealt-with with purely electronic trades - for example, net-debit and net-credit spreads.
