Bob F, If I lived within an hours drive of UNH I would find that FC lab and the folks who do the grunge work of installing and tesing the equipment and get first hand reports of what they think. After getting to know the folks I would stop in every couple months to ask what was new. If you do this and learn anything please give us a report.
Tell them you are a reporter for the SI ANCR thread. We'll get you a press card. Ask them if they have seen any switches that can do FC-AL besides ANCR.

Bob,

<<What is UNH anyway? University of New Hampshire?>>

The University of New Hampshire has a Fibre Channel interoperability testing lab of some sort. If you are willing to pay them a visit, I'm sure most of us would be all ears, waiting for a report. <g>

Maybe we should all have ANCR badges, with our "cult" ID number on them. "I'm from the Ancor thread on SI, and I want to ask you a few questions." <g>
