Shi: I couldn't help but notice from MOT release:

...However, a weakening of demand is being felt in the United States. In addition, analog handset sales in the U.S. are declining as a result of an accelerating trend of demand shift from analog to digital products. A competitive pricing environment for digital handsets is developing as those manufacturers who benefit competitively from the Asian currency devaluation put greater than historical pressure on pricing globally, but particularly in Asia.

First, I'm glad that Q management came out of the gates early to warn investment community, indicating that it had already started shifting production to QPE.

Second, without getting into a "commoditization" debate, it appears that MOT is concerned about digital handset margin compaction. I know certain features differentiate handsets, but one can't help but acknowledge that price is important for the less-discriminating consumer.
