Gottfried,>Shane, it's not so much protecting your PC, but protecting your data with a UPS. I have an APCC and recently it went into
action while the lights went out. I was posting on SI and didn't
miss a beat. While that wasn't a mission-critical application,
I could have been doing my tax return.<g>
But you're right, people who just use a cheap PC to play games and
surf the web might see little need for a UPS.<

Ditto! Three weeks ago while I was on the internet and working on my spreadsheet and wordprocessing at the same time (all items were open) the electric electricity went out. It stayed off for three hours. However, since I had the APC, Back-UPS Pro, I was able to save my data on the programs and shut down in an orderly fashion with battery backup.

The APC Back-up Pro is well worth the price and potential relief from future anxiety.

Regards,

Paul V.
