I have never read or heard Brinker take credit for predicting an Asian meltdown.

Obviously, you haven't read much. Look at this response to Rillinois from Brinker. Assuming Rillinois is not making it all up, anyone with a modicum of sense will say that Brinker is claiming credit for predicting the Asian crisis.

Post #4 titled "Re: Waiting for Bob's response...", dated 12/29/97, and authored by Brinkerbob:

New Asia was eliminated from all Model Portfolios and the Recommended List effective July 11, 1997 at a price of $9.15 per share due to concerns about performance prospects in the Asian Theatre.

Don: Excellent post in content and tone. I was in Rochester and heard him say the exact same thing. There is no doubt in my mind. But I am not laughing at those posts you alluded to at all. I have to just shake my head and roll my eyes. After all, Brinker has never claimed to be God. On the other hand, Brinker sure does leave the impression with me (perhaps unintentionally) on the radio that there could be something more to his New Asia call than mere underperformance. Although I like both the Bob on the radio and the Bob in Rochester (extremely nice and warm guy), I like the Rochester Bob much better. He does not have to leave that impression with me to be a winner in my book. I imagine most people would agree with me on this point.

If they could see the ridiculous posts of RIllinois, Dippy et al, they would undoubtedly laugh just as loud at these buffoons.

Yeah, right! When I expressed the opinion that Marketimer is not worth buying, you didn't need to know any more to decide that my portfolio is worth 250 bucks. So that should give an idea as to who is the buffoon.

Don: Your Post #3797 really begs the issue. Is it beyond you to admit that perhaps Bob Brinker is not perfect and that maybe he did on America On Line and on the radio mislead the uninformed to believing that he had "called the Asian problem" when he recommended sale of New Asia? Everyone on this Board respects Brinker (even Dippy?) and we all know that he is not perfect and that just maybe he made a mistake in this particular matter.

Now, I personally don't think he foresaw the Asia problem because if he had he would also have dumped Montgomery Emerging Markets.

Stay real, Don. Don't lose your credibility.
