Ray out of the new investors package I will post 3 at a time as time permits:

Tempest Data/Voice Gateway
Frequently asked questions and answers

How does the DVG work?
The DVG requires a connection to public or private dial network. This can be a single analog line, multiple analog lines or T1. When a call arrives from the IP network into the DVG, the DVG needs a dial tone to call the number that was requested. When someone wants to place a call, the DVG must receive the call from a local telephone network and it than packetizes the voice and sends it out through the Ethernet port to the router.

The Tempest DVG is connected to an IP LAN that is connected to a router. The router would route the voice "Packets" over the backbone or over the internet or other IP network to the destination.. The destination DVG would receive the IP packets, turn them back into voice and send them out over the Telco connection by dialing & connecting over the public telco (PSTN) or private telephone network. Each DVG has its own unique IP address for the Ethernet output.

Is the DVG a hardware solution?
The DVG is a system; a Pentium PC based rack mount chassis with telco and ethernet input.output controlled by Franklin's system software and firmware

How does the DVG attach to the LAN?
Franklin's data voice gateway uses a 10base-T ethernet connection to attach to the LAN that attaches to the router

Like this idea just the facts mam

Here is a few more

How many telephone lines will the DVG support?

The DVG currently supports T1, FXO & FXS. Each system will handle 8,12,24 lines. The compression is 7:1 allows for the IP network connection to be no greater than 256K for 24 lines.

Is the DVG scalabe?

The DVG can be scaled by adding more boxes to the stack; all are interconnected by a TCP/IP LAN. AT1 speed port on the backbone IP network can support at least 10 DVG units for a total of 240 voice ports per router (concurrent calls). The limit to the number of DVG units you can put on a LAN is a function of the size of the LAN and router. Port/Hunt groups can be defined for the telco circuits and the IP connections .

How much network band does the DVG use?

One voice port uses10Kbps or IP bandwidth, so an 8 port DVG would use 80Kbps, a 12 port DGV would use 120Kbps and a 24 port DVG would use 240Kbps

More to come soon
