If it is a hype, they've got HP, Sun, Compaq, IBM, Fujitsu, DEC, Data General, Sequent, Bull, Microsoft, Santa Cruz Operations, et al in on it. Expect tapeout later this year, sampling to key customers 1Q99 and production later in 1999.>

I think, as you, that the Merced will be BIG. However, when it comes to describing *near term* prospects for Intel the use of Merced is a little overkill. "Hype", on the other hand, is too strong a word. For long term investors the mention of Merced is well justified. IMHO.
