Mark McCoy is a loser. He goes from thread to thread making "idiotic" statements after a stock drops. See: Intel, MOT, CYBR. He waits for a drop, then taunts investors. No class.

Ignore this loser.

Tom

"Back-end loaded" was not used by Mason/Pfieffer for the 1st quarter. I believe there was "competitive pricing" in the Jan month - with the rest of the quarter still not known by CPQ mngt. There has been NO "preannouncement of bad earnings by CPQ mngt as of yet - until they do it shouldn't be assumed that there is/will be.

The facts are:

1) Company mngt has indicated that the DEC merger is going smoothly and should be completed sometime in the 2nd qtr. They also expect the merger to be accretive to earnings by the end of this year.

2)The shift towards branded PC names continues with CPQ being at the forefront of the concept of "one stop shopping" - the DEC merger enhances CPQ's position in that regard.

3)CPQ is a very efficent low cost producer of PC's, ie, the <1000 PC trend.

4) CPQ is shifting towards an "enterprise" business - with a goal that 50% of their business will be that way by year 2000 (and consequently less of a "commodity PC maker").

5) CPQ is now selling for around 20 times 98 earnings - which in todays market is a good deal. CPQ should continue to grow over the long term at 20%+ rate.

I hope you don't mind my "" <quotes> around key phrases - but we live in a world where power names have to be "" <ggg>
