FORE THE BELL -Motorola eases, 3com steady

Motorola's announcement came on the heels of a similar warning from
semiconductor maker Intel Corp <INTC.O>. Intel's shares were up at
76-3/8 from a Thursday close of 75-9/16.

Swedish telecommunications equipment maker Telefon AB L.M. Ericsson
<LMEb.ST> <ERICY.O> rose to 43-1/2 from a close of 42-7/16. Finnish
telecoms equipment maker Nokia Group <NOKSa.HE> <NOKa.N> was up at 95
from a 94-8/16 close.

Among other shares, 3Com Corp <COMS.O> rose to 35-1/2 from a close of
35-5/16 after the computer networking company said it had adjusted its
1997 results to reflect better its purchase of modem maker
U.S. Robotics Corp.
