<<Don't know much about ASYT - will do some reading today.>>

ASYT is involved in the automation segment of the market. You are correct that they are not entirely dependent on the new fab market, but unfortunately, they are linked into that group when the analysts and the money managers run from a group. If you get a big warning from AMAT, PRIA and ASYT go down even if the segment isn't related.

I suspect that we are going to see one more brutal selloff in the semiconductor equipment manufacturers before this is over (which is why I said I hoped you hadn't spent all your cash). ;-)

PRIA is major competition because of PRIA's desire to be a total solution in the automation field (at least on the front end of the market. I think ASYT has an edge because of their software/hardware solution to tracking WIP. Bean counters love to know how much they have and where it is. ;-)

BTW, 22.5 is a reasonable entry point. I bought some at $22 the day after the crashette in October by dumb luck and am completely happy with that number going out 2 years.

Yakov - This is the only semi equipment stock I'm still holding (okay, I picked up some COHU today, but that's just because I love dividends and couldn't figure the size of the fallback). I think they should be able to show some earnings strength even in the current situation and it's my favorite in the field at this price. Even during a contraction, it's a great way to extend cleanroom life for a dying fab -- it doesn't, in other words, depend on new fab construction so much as a lot of these issues -- much of their sales comes from partial and full conversions.

This is a much better issue right now, IMHO, than PRIA or Brooks at these prices, although I'm looking for PRIA to fall way back on an earnings debacle -- the postponed new construction will hurt them worse than most of the non-litho companies. And then we strike!
