Re: data corruption concerns.

Backup your data! Hard drives can crash too. The whole Q+ database fits on one zip disk. I copy to zip disk once every day ( or so) and do full HD backup to tape every week.

I had more problems with TC2000 conversion process & corrupt Metastock data than I do with Q+ data.

RE: Data corruption. I agree with CatLady on backup, but I go a step further. I make a backup of each days zip file before I process it. Then I can re install the data and bring it up to date anytime. (I also do it because I have more than one computer to update.)

That said I wish I could think of a rational way for QPlus to provide a way to deal with data corruption/disk crash but at present I think its my responsibility.

Jerry,

The robustness of the programs leaves a lot to be desired.
Error messages have improved with R2 but only in some areas.
QP R2 has not crashed once since november on NT. In Terms of
restoring yourd Data you have two options. A. Backup your data (only idiots don't do this, and yes there are a lot of you out there) or
call QP up and have them send you a new cd. Hasn't been a problem
for me...... I too have dozens of criticisms of the program, but haven't found anything better for any price as a data source. For the
price there is nothing that even compares..... As a programmer and hardware designer as well I can find fault with every peice of software. My list of annoyances with Metastock is far longer and I expect more from them for the price....... As a programmer you can
write your own scanning and charting software using their DLL's to access the QP database. Jeff Grover and others have already done this..... I plan on writing a system tester to plugin in this fashion.....
