All, Nice to be back in the saddle, unfortunately I feel like I got on the horse backwards. My body clock is totally out of sync, awoke at 1:00 AM and started reading posts from where I left off on the 25th of Feb. Only got as far as about 150 posts into the 600 or so. Damn...we are a prolific group! Since I wasn't able to read all these past posts, excuse me if I happen to repeat what has already been stated, but here are some little tidbits that help to give credence to what I already consider a potential likelihood of Franklin achieving success in the near future. As Jack stated I was sluething with a fine tooth comb prior to the official tours ( I was there a day or two before most people) and may have been responsible for the staff of Franklin to de-snooperize the joint. ggggggg I noticed on my second visit they had wiped the blackboards clean and flipped over important papers in the in-baskets trays, etc. Ahh, but not before I was able to pick up on a few things. One of the most revealing things I saw was a blackboard with the schematic layout of the FNET Network showing the hookup with other telcos. Yes, WCOM was one, along with a few more big names, including LCI. When I asked about it, you could hear sphincter muscles tighten and soon afterward it was erased. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! I was asked not to speak of it, so I will hold true to my word. Let me just say that the other names were of the household variety and would make any start-up telco proud to be associated with them. One other thing that I was especially impressed with was hidden behind the chain-link cage, over in the mfg. area. Anyone notice the number of boards stocked up? Looks to me like they are planning on some major ramp up soon. No one in their right mind inventories that much stock without commitment, at least not in my history of experience of doing business. Another key ingredient to help lend credence to holding high expectations was the state of transition apparent every where you looked in the headquarters. Offices were being moved, departments were being formed and expansion was evident everywhere. I even heard conversation regarding Malibu may be moved to a different physical location to make room for even more office expansion. Does this sound like a company that is floundering? I don't think so. The day before most people arrived, both my wife and I had lunch with Frank. On the walk back to the office I noticed a building across the street that was for lease and mentioned it to Frank. He just grinned and said it that if they were to move, that the building across the street was to small to be of much use......it was 16k square feet. Nuff said. The real highlight of the trip for me and Pam were the quality of people that attended that meeting.....one truly fine group of people. Franklin can consider itself very fortunate to have such a high caliber of diverse individuals for shareholders. Never in all my years have I ever been so humbled by so many truly wonderful, sincere, and intelligent individuals. Snake and River Rat, thanks again for the great wine, conversation and chance truly get to know all those in attendance. Also thanks again for the '39 Armagnac. Now I have to visit Marvin to have the enamel replaced on my teeth. gggggg Smoooooooth sippin!!!! C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A WHAT A PLACE! Where else can you order an ASS-BURGER.....that's right, a hamburger with Avocado..Sprouts....Salsa, an ASS-Burger, Damn! Where else could you hear somebody order......Give me a burger, well done, with a lot of ASS, hold the cheese, please. What a country!!!!! Health-nuts everywhere. My cigar smoking went over well. Yeah right! BTW, thanks to everyone that aided my addiction by supplying me with an endless stream of great cigars. I felt like Puff Daddy. gggggg Even Seth fired one up once I showed him which end to light. Spent the next five days in LV celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. Had a great time, took in some shows, gourmet dining, and rolled a few bones, twisted a few cards, and left with my skin in tact. Even took in a Traffic concert, Stevie Winwood wasn't present but Dave Mason's guitar was as wicked as ever. Even with all that, nothing could surpass the feeling and enjoyment of having met not only the staff of Franklin, but all the fine people I now have the privilege to call friends. For those that couldn't attend, make sure to put it on the top of list for next year, time and money well spent I assure you. Now if the naysayers and skeptics could just pick up the pace a little, I'd love to buy more at lower prices..... OH and Spec-0-value: Not all those who know their minds know their hearts as well. -La Rochefoucauld yep, I'm convinced, nuff said. Watch the tape rb
