Everen Securities Upgrades Ascend Friday March 6, 9:59 am Eastern Time RESEARCH ALERT-EVEREN upgrades Ascend CHICAGO, March 6 (Reuters) - EVEREN Securities said Friday it raised its intermediate term rating on Ascend Communications Inc to outperform from market perform and maintained its long term outperform rating. -- Says increased confidence in company's ability to show sequential EPS improvement as well as its ability to achieve fourth quarter earnings in line with expectations suggests momentum can continue. -- Says new price targets of $37 intermediate term and $43 long term reflect higher premium to S&P 500 index.
