A little news, nothing major, but all good:

Carrizo Oil & Gas, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRZO - news)
biz.yahoo.com

"...S.P. Johnson IV, President and CEO, commented ''Carrizo had monumental growth in 1997, and 1998 should be an even
more exciting year as more prospects are drilled on the 3D shoots we completed last year. These exploration projects are
ones in which Carrizo generally has higher average working interests than prior projects, and several have high potential
prospects which require only medium depth drilling. We have now expanded our portfolio of completed 3D seismic surveys by
nine surveys to a total of 19 surveys, including two in Louisiana, all of which have yielded multiple drilling prospects.

We are continuing to expand our South Texas 3D seismic exploration program as well as increasing our prospect generation
and drilling in South Louisiana. The first of our recently acquired Louisiana 3D well prospects, in which we have average
working interests of approximately 12.5%, is currently drilling and has found approximately 66 feet of apparent net pay with
the final primary objective sand yet to be drilled. Two additional wells in this program should spud in March. Our Live Oak
prospect well in South Louisiana in which we have a carried 10% interest is also drilling at 10,000 feet and is expected to
reach total depth by the end of March. Our Atchafalaya Bay prospect in which we have approximately a 30% interest should
spud in the next two to three weeks. In addition to this Louisiana drilling prospect inventory, we have also recently leased four
additional large South Louisiana prospects over which we intend to acquire 3D data during the next six months.

Our drilling program is still focused primarily on natural gas targets. Our 3D exploration plan calls for the completion of at least
12 more surveys in 1998. We have four wells drilling today and should have 11 rigs drilling at the end of March, weather
permitting. Our goal is to participate in over 140 gross wells during 1998 which is double the number of wells in which we
participated during 1997. These wells include numerous shallow, relatively low-risk wells, but also include a reasonable
percentage of higher potential prospects in which we have, on average, lower working interests, but yet have sufficient
exposure so as to provide for significant upside potential..."
