I don't believe we have a true comparison here re: "The AQP history may suggest otherwise".

Arequipa was 100% owned, Barrick was watching over their shoulder and was certainly aware of what the properties potential might be. The more drilling that took place the more the resource increased and the more information got out ... additionally other majors were on the trail ... so ABX acted quickly to grab AQP as cheaply as possible.

In the case of PFG, with a majority ABX ownership, they have been able to take their time, keeping results to themselves ... I assume the same case exists with CBI.

I haven't looked into CBI but if you would care to post information on that thread, I will have a look.
