Hi-Val to Bring First DVD-RAM to Retail in April

Multimedia upgrade kit manufacturer Hi-Val won't be pushing second-generation DVD-ROM drives this year. Instead, the company has set its sights on bringing the first DVD-RAM upgrade kit to the retail market.

The company's first such kit will ship in April with a suggested retail price of $399, according to Ed Meadows, executive vice president of Hi-Val. Details about the kit aren't finalized, but Meadows said it will include a 2X drive along with playback and recording software for DVD-RAM.

The kit will also contain Hi-Val's signature wireless option, which allows movies to be played back on a television set without an Svideo connection.

DVD-RAM drives can play DVD-ROMs, DVD movies and standard CDs and can record data on DVD-RAM disks.

Lisa, I think Cube may make ( slight chance ) one last desperate attempt to cross its 50 day moving average at $20.25, but fail. Cube is now at the beginning of a new downtrend. All the technicians and chartists who trade Cube are well aware of this. As a momentum stock, it pays big time to get into Cube when she changes her short term trend. Last expiration, Cube sold off. I honestly see Cube beginning its next leg down shortly. I have a substantial short position and bought some put options at the May $22.5 strike . Cube is finished for the time being. Its head and shoulders configuration portends a fairly significant decline from present levels. I see $10 sometime in the second quarter. The lack of volume here, as you undoubtedly realize, is a shortseller's best friend.
