OK everybody,

I've been looking at AOL from the sidelines for a while now (since it broke 100, roughly). I am seriously considering shorting at some point, but I'm thinking that it may be better to wait for the split. There may be a pre and post split movement upward, but a few days after the split may be a good time to jump in and short it.

In my opinion, once the PE gets this high, a few hundred PE points up don't matter anymore, and it may be the split working against the shorts at the moment.

Hype, high inst. ownership, internet street darling, 5 PR announcements/day--->stock price way up---->announce split------>sell insider shares before the split----->split------>???????

Why make another thread? There shouldn't have to be a bullish/bearish thread - it should be one in the same so an exchange of information occurs. Isn't that why we all follow these threads? What good is it gonna do for you bears if all you hear is the same thing over and over again -

tulips, aol will go down 50, no fundamentals, MCI/WCOM/Snap!/Yahoo!/etc. gonna take over, yada, yada, yada...
Seems to me all you would be getting is information with a "tunnel vision" perspective ala David Cassel. Of course, bears like that kind of thing ;-)

As for the few longs on this thread that post, and those that lurk, what a long strange trip it's been....oh, and a profitable one at that!
