Brad, I suspect there was an advance payment because the XL-NRID conversation went something like this:

XL: We need software. How much do you want?

NRID: We want $x per seat. Upfront.

XL: Why should we pay upfront? Pay as we need it.

NRID: If you don't pay upfront, we may not be here by the time you need it.

XL: OK, we'll pay $x/y per seat, up front. Take it or leave it.

NRID: We'll take it.
