Michael:

Satellite has every conceivable advantage over cable except for one thing...one channel output per receiver.

That's a limitation that is easily worked around...e.g. My wife records her programs on one receiver while she watches shows on another....but I can't help but believe that a multichannel receiver is in the future somewhere.

I'm not trying to reinvent Star Wars here....imagine a house that is wired for 6 cable TV outlets. A satellite is attached via cable to a single box. The box has a single output that is split off and fed to all of the other outlets. The output of the box will have signals for channels 2,3,4,5,6 and 7.

The TVs could then be hooked up just like cable only they would be tuned to one channel each. Each TV could have an RF remote to change the satellite channel to the show they want to watch. In essense, creating a mini-cable company in the home.

Am I crazy? Or have I just spent $250K without even knowing it.

My apologies in advance for being a novice at DBS.
