The only big advantage that NXTL has is its Roaming.

I don't know how the coverage of Nextel compares to those of say Sprint or PrimeCo, but my guess is that if Nextel has advantage now, it will disappear soon. I think the competition has deeper pockets.

The advantage that Bell Atlantic offers is that it is using the standard technologies unlike the Motorola proprietary stuff that NXTL uses.

I think you hit the nail on the head. The worldide subscriber count of PCS users will be in 100s of millions worldwide in next 5 years. The selection of handsets and various gadgets for PCS systems will far surpass that of Nextel.

Nokia is already offering a phone/PDA. Sony is coming out with something called Cosmo. 3Com will have a way to use the PalmPilot with PCS standards.
