Yeadon, I agree with what "real" rumors would do to the stock price. However, if DSC were taken over under-performing management would not be kept on board. (Instant improvement in cash flow of $6 million per year, or more?)

Yeadon - It is not wholly outrageous. There is a definite convergence between voice and data. Cabletron is working with Nortel. Bay with Lucent. Cisco and Lucent tried but aren't getting along. 3Com with Siemens, Newbridge and to some extent DSC. Why not Cisco and DSC? After all StrataCom wasn't exactly a small acquisition. Still- I agree it is probably mostly hopeful conjecture.
