I guess my post did sound silly, of course we only buy what we expect to go up!!!!! Sorry about that! I guess the second question was a little more intelligent!!! Thanks for the answer. I think that what you said about losers is the key-dont let big losses cause big gains to mean nothing. But what is the time frame? I let Sapient go because it began to go down (after just a couple of daysI) and now, just a few weeks later it has nice fat gains that I dont have!!!!
I need to get more of a handle on time frame I think. Some things I know are long term, like Dell and Microsoft (well sort of!!!!VBG) and Nextel...which is a long shot for huge gains in the next two years. And Intel I bought and rarely even look at although it certainly hasnt thrilled me in 1997 because I bought too high. But others, that I get for shorter term, I am not sure how long to give them! How does one decide?
