CNBC's Bruce Francis, Tech Reporter, just said that DELL might be impacted by CPQ, but that it is growing so much faster because it has a different business model.

We can only hope for a buying op on Monday morning before all the CPQ folks start buying up DELL!

Will it ever end? ;-) Who's left?

Thread,
I'm wondering why CPQ isn't trading down in after hours. Is it halted?

I still think a lot of people will come running in on Monday. There are people who have sat on the sidelines not participating because of the price, who will now have an opportunity to get in. And, if DELL said the INTC thing was not affecting their sales, doesn't the same apply for CPQ? It should recover. Everyone take a big drink of wine and everything will be all better.

Paul, Maybe not. <snip>
''With these actions, we are attempting to achieve channel inventories that support ODM by the end of the second quarter,'' said Pfeiffer. ''Our outlook for the second quarter is cautious as we continue to assess the North American commercial market environment.''

Outlook

''While market conditions will continue to be competitive, we fully intend to expand our business and grow our market share in 1998,'' said Pfeiffer. ''Timing these pricing and promotional actions to coincide with the Digital Equipment Corporation [NYSE:DEC - news] acquisition will position us to take full advantage of that merger.'' Meaning lets get rid of this stuff before we have to get rid of DECs PC biz!

I DONT KNOW IF THE CPQ HIT WILL LAST ON dELL. Paul, We all knew this was comming and its already pretty much factored in cpq's stock price.
there will be panic sellers monday but a lot of Cpq share holders May jump ship to Dell. This has already began..Some will hold to Cpq for the Dec merger to pan out..It just may give Dell a big boost to the number one spot..Mikey probably has his moves ready for action..he said he would be grabbing at market share through the confusion.cpq's lost will be Dells gain and we;re gonna be without a doubt #1. I will hold my cpq for a couple of years in hope that they have a plan that will work. He wanted to show off"cpq-ceo" and Dell kicked his butt..We still may see 150 very soon..I dont think Cpq can go much lower"I hope'. I will buy more Cpq if they do..

<<I expect Dell will probably be slammed on Monday.
>>

But do you think that the "slamming" will be justified?
