From MacOSRuors:

After being tipped off by a reader, Rumors and several sources did some serious digging today, and were able to confirm the news relayed by the reader; that Apple and Global Village have indeed been meeting at an executive level in the past several weeks, and that there are strong indications that Apple is pursuing a closer relationship with the networking and telecommunications company.

In fact, some speculation suggests that Apple may be pursuing a buyout of GV, in order to further its networking and telcom technology offerings -- reportedly, as part of its efforts with the Apple Media Player (see end of today's edition) and the Mac NC. While this remains highly unconfirmed, it is a fascinating possibility and suggests that Apple is beginning to move past its period of trim-to-the-bones operation and is looking to begin moving in new directions.
