So Steve,
Any bets on Dell doubling CPQ's market cap before (if) this dog recovers? CPQ at 20 = 28B, Dell at 140 = 48B.

John

Similar to what Dell is doing to CPQ in the PC business, what's to prevent them in the near future from issuing more of their 'golden' shares to buy an enterprise firm and do the same to CPQ on the high end? Based on market cap, they will have much more buying power than CPQ... I'll be happy at this point if CPQ rally's SOMETIME this year, dead money for almost 6 months now in a roaring bull market. You have any new predictions (don't make them!!!). I'm a bit surprised as you and Jim Kelley were going at it concerning CPQ, and yet in retrospect his analysis of channel stuffing and acquisition problems several months back have turned out to be 'spot on'. Guess we all should have bought Dell back in October and doubled our money, what can I say...

I read it, steve. Blowout 4th quarter causes bad 1st quarter? Interesting. Sure it's not just their accounting or "channel stuffing."

Re: they could do all kinds of things and still be tanked -- CPQ is talking about break-even quarter, right? Maybe there's a good reason for the stock being down or going down a little further.

Glad you have done well with CPQ and that this is no big deal. I think by itself, I would agree with you. INTC preannounced also, though. I'm no PC analyst and your experience in the industry is well-known, but I think these may be the warning signs of a real slowdown. We'll have to wait and see. Next quarter will tell whether this is a blip or a shift.
