If the doom and gloom prediction of $12 made by the majority of participants on this thread is any indication of the norm, then I have even more confidence that the stock will hold support at 18. If it doesn't hold 18, the next major support is between 15 and 16. I'm prepared to ride VLSI down to 15 but seriously doubt if it will see 12 unless the entire market crashes. The probability of that happening is VERY low, IMO.

Compaq pre-released earnings after the close today and the stock was trading down about $2 to 25 1/2 in after hours trading. Intel was trading at about 76 3/4, down 1 3/8 from the close at 4pm ET. It will be important to see how VLSI trades on Monday now that Compaq's news is out. VLSI held support this week in the face of a lot of adversity: Intel's news, Motorola's news, and the downgrade from Soundview. If the stock doesn't break 18 on Compaq's news, then I think it will likely rally to 19 1/2 or 20.

If you feel strongly about VLSI trading to 12, perhaps you should buy some puts or short the stock.

Best of luck,

Dan
