This is to the entire thread. ...Burning sand blew into the lone pilgrim's face as he looked across what seemed to be a never ending sea of silicon. Long has he searched for a place to stop and rest, but always driven onward by the ever present need to go on searching. Searching for the place foretold of by the scrolls, a place where thought was prized above petty pride and personal prejudice. This place was said to exist somewhere on the edge of the silicon sea. It was thought to be a place where even enemies could sit down and use reason, logic and facts to argue their point, not the simple barbs and jeers of children. But wait, what is this? A shining reflection of light from some distant oasis. Could this be? Could this pristine light be the end of years of wandering...of searching? Faster and faster the image grows as the oasis nears, hope soars but caution reaches out and restrains the winged hope, things are not as they first appear. There are people at the oasis, gathered around a giant obelisk ment to be the gathering place for scholars, students and anyone wishing to learn. Shouting and argument is heard, is there a children's game be played in this place of discussion? For surely men and women of learning would not conduct themselves like this, it serves no point, it is a waste. Sadly I watch and find that this is no collection of children, but men and women from all different lands arguing and fighting, calling names and shouting. Watching as those few who wish to learn and discuss shake their heads and leave in disgust I realize that this is not where my journey ends. Turning I go once again out into the silicon wastes in search of a place to learn, a place to debate the facts, where logic and reason hold sway over the petty squabblings of small minds. I know this journey will be a long one. What are you here for????
