I agree with your premise, but once again, right now the price cuts by Compaq on the computers they are trying to get rid of are not competing with the computers that Dell is sending out for delivery tommorrow. If Compaq can get its BTO model up to the standard of DELL's then DELL is dead.
If high end PC sales slow down, DELL is dead. I never said that DELL was immune, I just stated that the problem that Compaq is having right now is UNRELATED to DELL. Read CompUSA's press release, same thing as CPQ. CPQ has created the bidding war in the low priced end. If the consumer shifts preferrences, and only want to buy cheap low end garbage, then DELL is dead. There, I gave you 3 instances where DELL can get killed, I did not say that it would not or could not happen. It very well could happen. But, right now, I don't see it.
