>>If you are the IS manager of a company do you really care if you buy a Dell or CPQ? <<

YES!!!
As a consultant, I have worked with numerous Fortune 100/500 companies. Most of these corporations have now standardized their PC vendors. They will only buy from this "approved" vendor. A lot of these Fortune 500's have standardized on Mr. Dell's equipment. Mr. Dell is doing everything right: not interested in sub $1000's, low inventory, direct sales, more reliable PC's (less returns)..... The other guys are and have been playing catch up for more than a year now and they are not even close.

I also love the fact that Mr. Dell is so concerned about share holder value. Came out minutes after CPQ announcement to assure industry that DELL is doing fine.

I have been fortunate to hold DELL for more than two years. The guy is great. All I can say is "Thank you Mr. Dell."

"If you are the IS manager of a company do you really care if you buy a Dell or CPQ? No! especially when CPQ starts dumping their inventory. "

Sounds like you are saying DELL has got a better brand name than CPQ! Ridiculous!
