If my company wasn't making money because product was losing value while in inventory, I think I would have to do more than clear out the inventory. I think I would have to change my business model to be able to operate with much lower inventory. Compaq tried that. Remember BTO? They need a better solution. Compaq must fix their business model.

price wars are done to dump inventory, probably a great time to short DELL on it's next run up (plain commonsense, they'll eventually feel the heat of the price war, give it time.)

As I previously stated, it's time to focus on the new marriage and who CPQ's new competition will be and how they'll compete.

Trust me, things could be worse, this has been expected from most since OCT '97
