Now, on that tail ... Are you saying two of Ligand's partners may merge to be more efficient in "milking" STATs/IRs? Or is Ligand an M&A target? What are you trying to say here? I see the trees in your tale but cannot see the forest just yet.

Henry, thanks for producing this post. For me, it is one of the most important I've seen on this thread.

I have long been mulling a concern that I wanted to you ask about, but couldn't clearly spell it out. I was concerned that combinatorial chemistry and genomics might technologically 'leap frog' LGND. Based on what your post outlines, LGND seems way out front and cc/genomics are not likely to threaten LGND's discoveries. I'm a lot more comfortable now, but any elaboration on this point would be welcome.
