Here's another exciting news flash. Apparently, the United States is no longer a sovereign nation. This should send the market down about 80%, though it'll probably go up, instead.

Annan: US Must Consult Before Attack

WASHINGTON (AP) - The United States would be required to consult with the U.N. Security Council before initiating any future military strike against Iraq, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said today. The Clinton administration has insisted that, under existing U.N. resolutions, it has the authority to take unilateral action if Iraq violates the latest agreement giving U.N. weapons inspectors a free hand in looking for Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. Annan told ABC the Security Council would be more amenable to military action if Iraq again breaks its promises, but ''I think it will require consultations.'' require consultations.''
