I may be one of the rare people on this thread who sold cube at 70 and one of the many who bought at 37, 27 and 19 since. Not technically savvy. Can anyone answer the following for me: Does all digital video require encoding and decoding (by today's standard)? Does video on demand require encdoing/decoding in the set top box? (i.e not a threat but a support to cube technology) Will delivery of digital video become fast enough that the consumer wouldn't need to encode/decode - it would be done "offsite" I appreciate any response. Like many, I can't see why more people don't see the potential in cube and I'm wondering if there are significant technology reasons for this or just the normal risk/reward of owning small techs.
