Zeev,
Do you think this rash of earnings disappointments will be the
trigger that puts this bull market to rest? These wild swings in
the averages are not the sign of a healthy market, but of one which is
about to blow up.

Regards,
Dave

Hi Zeev, I am trying to figure out what is happening out there. I heard secondhand that CPQ said it was their corporate customers that were causing most of the problem. I do know one fortune 500 customer here in Minneapolis that is using Dell as their vendor because of the quality of the product and support from the company. The Intel announcement suggests a slowdown in orders which would be an industry wide problem. Also, I am noticing the programmable logic companies have been in trouble for a couple of quarters. On the other hand the communications companies seem to be doing ok so far. What does all this mean?

The only thing I can come up with is a slow down in capital equipment spending which could or could not be an affect of the Y2K spending or companies have reached a plateau in automation as well as the computers they currently have are getting the job done.

Dell could be ok since Michael, I believe, will keep on buying his stock back and be private in a few years.<ggg>

BTW, you could be right that the Japanese are selling bonds. I have been waiting for this to happen for about 6 months.

Lots of questions and no answers.
