Rebates don't stink, Jim, they SUCK.

Well, big correction, I DON'T have the Maxtor rebate yet, thought I did but I was wrong. I keep complete rebate records, because I usually have 30-40 rebates out totaling $400 to $600 (just because they suck doesn't mean that I don't play the game).

Anyway, I bought it in December, and I've learned to EXPECT TWELVE WEEKS for rebates, no matter what they say, so I expect to see the Maxtor rebate this month.

By the way, Iomega is just settling TWO class action lawsuits, one on their rebate programs, and one on poor customer service. If you still have the documentation, you should reapply. Their rebate programs and customer service programs are now under court appointed supervision, they are accepting re-applications and it's almost certain that you will get it promptly, but you will need AT LEAST a receipt, and preferably a copy of the form that you originally sent in.

Sorry, I don't have any further details.

One final comment, don't EVER throw out ANY mail without opening it. I've learned this from experience. You simply CANNOT be sure what is inside an envelope without opening it, even a "publisher's clearinghouse" envelope could be a notice that you've won (and if you don't return the affadavit within 30 days, you forfeit).

One of the letters that I DID throw out (after opening) was from the class action attorneys in the Iomega rebate suit (they wrote everyone on record as having received or applied for a rebate to tell them that they would get a $3 gift certificate good on the purchase of Iomega products from the DESIGNATED retailer (I think it was Microwarehouse or CDW)). Big whoop, but putting them under court supervision and the other concessions that they made, is, on the other hand, a big leap forward.
