But "the grand stategy" is questionable in this market, for the next year or two...

Yes, but remember those pushing the Network computer - Sun, Oracle, IBM dont depend on PC clients for a living and could care less if PC vendors shot themselves in the head in a price war. Many of the ERP vendors are moving their applications to the web - Oracle always used to reccomend for a client server setup a very fast PC with lots of memory - now its a browser and no need to upgrade or administer thousands of unruly PC's.
