<<When the wave finally crests, there will be plenty of time to make money on the downside>>

Point well taken. We are getting killed trying to short on valuation. Perhaps it would be better to patiently wait for a definitive market break and a change in sentiment which lasts longer than 3 hours. It is heartbreaking to miss the first big collapse in stocks like Yahoo though....

Christopher, you post goes against all of my long held, time proven beliefs about fundamentals always winning out. Unfortunately, you are probably right. The current mania could drive prices much higher before it breaks. Based on fundamentals, we should short DELL at the open Monday. Based on recent history, we should go long.

Totally agree with you.

If the market really falls, there will be plenty of time to make money on the short side. Well, I guess it's greed.

let's say DELL. If DELL misses a quarter, you can take the short position the following day since I believe that correction will be about 25-35%. So why bother to take a short position before they release earnings? This is a gambler's game.

market will go up. The less you understand the merket, the more money you make.

Christopher,

<<New York taxi drivers are asking their passengers about how to get Instinet (true...happened to me today); and people are fantasizing about moving from the cities to the Rocky Mountains to become full-time daytraders>>.

Great post. I really enjoyed reading it since just a day before yesterday, a friend of mine who used to be a cab driver, called me to find out what is the Instinet and how to get on it. And the Rocky Mountains will get very crowded soon with all those day traders. Becoming a full time day trader is one of popular themes among my colleagues too.

T.

Christopher
I put this post on another thread and was told I was all wet. If I have been misinformed, I would like to know. I was told this by a source I deem reliable but you can't always trust your sources. Can you shed any light on the subject.
TIA Dave
