Here's something on the INTC StrongARM chip from INTC:

techweb.com
"Franz' comments also cast doubts on whether Intel would let designers use
StrongARM to attack markets that threaten its core PC business. For
example, some designers are developing low-cost subnotebooks using MIPS
or Hitachi SH processors for rollout later this year.

Franz said Intel would use StrongARM to enter the market for Internet
appliances. The CPU was shown at the Consumer Electronics Show
powering a Web phone made by Philips. "We believe the StrongARM
processors have tremendous potential in the market," said Ron Smith, vice
president and general manager of Intel's computer enhancement group.
"High-performance, low-power microprocessors are essential to the future of
a variety of portable devices." "

Exactly how INTC uses it should be interesting.
