Rich,
Thanks for the detailed validation...

I suppose I just think they should have responded differently, earlier... after all they did start the sub zero PCs last year, and they had a running start on DELL and were definitely crowding out the "white box" makers... me included (very tiny scale). Actually the original sub zero had no room for a network card (no slots at all) so my early reccomendation to a client company backfired on me... they had to get "White boxes", for roughly $400 more just to have network cards! It reminded me of the crap DEC pulled when they attempted to enter into the PC market at least two times... one with the totally screwed up Rainbows and Dec PRof, and then the last time with the supposed biz machines which had no discernable merit beyond ANYBODY's machines.

But, why go for 6, why go for 3? Was the sub zero strategy not working? Was/Is Dell crowding the biz channels? Was/Is CPQ afraid that DEC would pre-empt CPQ in the biz marketplace? Could it be that CPQ was worried that DEC would FINALLY catch on and give them a run for the $? Interesting...
