Ibexx, Re: "Eckhard ought to trim his ego a bit (to size), IMHO."

I absolutely agree. For this guy to approve of buying out Tandem and DEC in the space of, what, 8 months? is completely insane. I think he's panicking because of the tremendous success story of Dell, and the fact that another competitor, HP, is in bed with you know who.

I almost bought more INTC and first positions in CSCO, MSFT and HWP yesterday. Yeah, I know, dumb sh** except for the Intel part. You wouldn't believe why we didn't. My wife and I set up some IRA's at a Schwab office Friday and also bought a good amount of Schwab 1000 for retirement some day. We also had purchases of the above stocks about 90% done with a real Schwab person, when we decided to go home and do the buying on line Schwab to save money. Well, by the time we got Netscape 3.04 (recommended for 128 bit encryption software) downloaded, the markets had closed. Oh, well, there's always Monday.

So, in your opinion, when would you recommend buying HWP, or would you at all? I'm thinking Merced is going to give them a fabulous shot, but being a 1999 product, it may be too early to buy them now. Appreciate your opinion, in advance.

Best Regards,

Tony
