It isn't a CPQ specific problem, it's the entire tech sector.

Now just how do you know this? Do you think that Dell is lying? That would open the company up to derivative lawsuits and I think they're smart enough not to tempt that kind of reaction, so I believe what Dell has told us.

It might interest you to know that many of us on this thread had predicted Compaq's inventory problems last summer when the announced their BTO initiative. Look for posts by Jim Kelley and Meathead among others. This development did not catch us by surprise.

Now, the real question is what inventory is jugged up, and how Compaq plans to deal with it. Until we know details we are just fantasizing.

I also expect that day will come, but my pick is after the fall of 1999. If it isn't a CPQ specific problem, why DELL & HWP issued a positive outlook except Asia just 3 weeks ago? Does CPQ sales also include TANDAM products? Why is the earnings dropping so much?

Irish king:"re,rotation". It already has from my observation. I've
been looking at KM,KR,ABS,WMT,BBY,CC,CL,G They all made NEW HIGH this
week while sunw,cpq,ibm,hwp,txn,intc,amat,bay.. are either trending
down or TANKED.

Dead money for Tech at least I quarter. When IRA money inflow stop,
the holding power may not hold the free fall for the tech-sector.

I hope they(tech) are just basing instead of tanking or I'll have to
visit charter hospital (or get help somewhere else as the ad said).
