It is implicit in your comments about the tech sector in general. If the problem is in the entire tech sector and Dell says it hasn't experienced the business environment alluded to by Compaq, then it follows that either you are wrong or Dell is lying. They cannot both be true. The two statements are mutually exclusive, and your snide aside about Clinton constitutes an argumentum ad hominem coupled with sly guilt by association and an assumption of something not proven.

The point remains, Comaq's BTO plan was ill conceived because it would inevitably lead to inventory problems. Now, considering the reports from Dataquest and IDC and the comments made by Dell yesterday just how do you arrive at your conclusions? It seems to me that you are proffering proof by blatant assertion and are simply sharing your abiding belief that Dell will crumble and are engaged in an exercise to rationalize that belief.
