This is an important article and is 'kinda' bullish for the Q but a thorough reading suggests that Wireless '98 in Atlanta saw a powerful kick from the GSM crowd as suggested in the prior post that I bagged from Shane and posted over here (and that nobody has said diddily about).

Note the comment from the guy that says the GSM boys may just bypass IS95 and go "directly" to 3rd gen without going through the intermittent state. I know, I know--we have all debated this till the cows come home (they can't do it, it's vaporware, it will have to be backward compatible, etc.). But this guy Shane (who has zero bias and doesn't own a share of stock in the Q or Ericy--he's only involved through LSI which makes ASICs for both CDMA and GSM) has brought up some damned important stuff, IMO.
Let me just say that IF, and I say IF, the GSM crowd can do an end run around the Q, our investments would be worth zip in about one nanosecond. So I think we'd better stay very focused on this issue and I would appreciate comments on this link and the prior post. Thanks, Mike Doyle
