You can try looking in the index of Mac Secrets available at your local Barnes and Noble or Walden Books.

You can also search the many Mac User Group websites or even do a search for ReEdit and find the original develope who may have a handbook (simple text document - I've seen this, but cannot place where).

Yes, you can screw some things up. However, just keep in mind that if you just want to make some things invisible, that's fairly easy to do. I think the steps are - Open ReEdit and go to FILE, Get Info and select the file or folder that you want to perform the action on. There will be a number of buttons that you can use to turn things on and off concerning the file's attributes.

I recommend playing with and old System 7.0 boot floppy. That way, you run no danger screwing up your hard drive. If you make a mistake, just throw away the floppy and play with another one.
